Practical Steps
There are several things you can do to help and prevent your sleep issues.

-
Insomnia is a condition that causes you to have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or both. If you have insomnia and aren't able to get the amount of sleep you need each night for at least three nights in a row (or more), then it's time to take action.
-
Types of insomniaWhile there are many different types of insomnia--including transient (short-term) insomnia and chronic (long-term) insomnia--the most common type is called primary insomnia. Primary insomniacs don't have any underlying medical conditions or other factors contributing to their sleeplessness; they just can't fall asleep when they want or stay asleep through the night without waking up multiple times.
